Russia Warns London of Strikes on UK Military Targets Over Ukraine Arms

Tensions between Moscow and London have escalated, with Russia issuing a stark warning that it could target British military assets in response to the supply of weapons to Ukraine. The Russian Foreign Ministry stated that retaliation could affect "any British military objective and equipment in Ukraine and outside of it."

However, European Union sources in Brussels sought to reassure that there is "no immediate risk of an attack on European countries and NATO members." Despite this, officials acknowledged that "hybrid and not-so-hybrid actions will continue to occur."

The warning from the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson came shortly after the Kremlin dismissed Western media reports suggesting President Vladimir Putin intends to test NATO's resolve with a limited attack on an alliance country in the coming years. The Wall Street Journal had specifically cited a visit by CIA Director John Ratcliffe to Moscow as an attempt to warn Russia against such a move.

Both U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian intelligence chief Sergey Naryshkin characterized Ratcliffe's visit as "semi-routine" and a normal "working meeting" with nothing unusual. Dmitry Peskov, Putin's spokesperson, further dismissed the alleged intentions of Russia to attack NATO as mere "bogeymen" circulated by some media outlets that "have nothing to do with reality."

Despite these reassurances from the Kremlin, the Russian Foreign Ministry's warning to London highlights the deteriorating relationship between the two nations. Recent reports indicated the UK is accelerating its national defense review and preparing a public information campaign on emergency preparedness amid perceived threats from Russia, including advice for families to stock up on food and water.
