"Russians could break through by year-end"

Russian forces are making slow but steady advances along the front lines in Ukraine's Donetsk region. Their current objective is to penetrate a significant defensive line, described as a "fortress belt," which runs between the strategically important Ukrainian cities of Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, Druzhkivka, and Kostiantynivka.

Military analysts believe this fortified zone could become the primary focus of a potential Russian autumn offensive. Johan Huovinen, a lieutenant colonel and lecturer at the Swedish Defence University, stated that Russian troops are gradually moving towards this line. He indicated that a breakthrough by Russian forces might occur around the year's end.
