Ryan Reynolds has no interest in a big 50th birthday party

Ryan Reynolds is approaching his 50th birthday without plans for a grand celebration. The actor, who turns 50 on October 23, says the attention he receives in his daily work is already more than enough.

I don’t particularly like birthdays. I mean, they’re all right.

“I don’t particularly like birthdays. I mean, they’re all right,” Reynolds told People at the New York premiere of his latest film, the action comedy Mayday. “I don’t complain about having a birthday, but I’m not the type who says, ‘Hey, let’s throw a huge party for me.’”

He added that he had just been on the red carpet and considered that sufficient attention. “I’m good. I get enough attention. I was just on the red carpet. That’s more than enough.”

The Reynolds-Lively household has a busy birthday calendar. Blake Lively turned 39 on August 25, and Reynolds marked the occasion with a message on Instagram calling her “the best person I know.” Over a 113-day period, the couple celebrate both of their birthdays, the birthdays of three of their four children, and their wedding anniversary on September 9.

Their daughter James turns 12 in December, Inez turns 10 in September, and Betty turns seven in October. Their youngest child, son Olin, turns four in February. “It actually continues right up until my 50th birthday. It’s kind of crazy,” Reynolds said. “I spend most of the day inhaling helium, blowing up balloons, emptying them, and then blowing up more balloons.”
