Saime reopens San Bernardino office after earthquakes

The Venezuelan government's identification and immigration service (Saime) has reopened its San Bernardino office in Caracas, resuming in-person services after a closure due to earthquake damage. The office will operate daily from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., allowing citizens to complete their documentation needs.

The San Bernardino facility suspended operations on June 25 following material damage caused by earthquakes that struck the country the previous day. Saime emphasized that all visitors must schedule an appointment through its official website, www.saime.gob.ve, before arriving.

In addition to the San Bernardino office, Saime announced the opening of two other service points within the capital: one at the National Sports Institute (IND) and another at the Supreme Tribunal of Justice (TSJ). These locations will have reduced hours, operating from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

For those awaiting pending documents, passports and visas processed in San Bernardino will be available for pickup at the Correspondence Office on Baralt Avenue. This pickup service will run from Monday, July 27, to Friday, July 31, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Saime also clarified that several other offices remain temporarily closed due to ongoing damage from the seismic activity. In the Capital District, offices in Catia and at the National Guard (GNB) base in El Paraíso are non-operational. Similarly, in the state of La Guaira, the regional offices in La Guaira, Vargas I, Caraballeda, and Catia La Mar continue to be inaccessible to the public.
