Samsung C&T Ranks Top Construction Firm in South Korea for 13th Straight Year

Samsung C&T has once again secured the top position in South Korea's construction company performance evaluation, marking its 13th consecutive year at the pinnacle of the industry. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport announced the results of the "2026 Construction Company Performance Evaluation" on July 30th, covering 74,332 construction firms nationwide.

The comprehensive evaluation assesses companies based on their performance over the last three years, taking into account construction project achievements, management conditions, technical capabilities, and public recognition. Samsung C&T's evaluated worth reached an impressive 34.8785 trillion won (approximately $25 billion USD), solidifying its leading position.

Hyundai Engineering & Construction followed in second place with an evaluated worth of 18.2714 trillion won (approximately $13.5 billion USD). GS Engineering & Construction secured the third spot with 11.0668 trillion won (approximately $8.2 billion USD), while Hyundai Engineering & Construction ranked fourth with 11.0053 trillion won (approximately $8.1 billion USD).

Other notable companies in the top rankings include Daewoo Engineering & Construction, which moved up to fifth place from seventh last year with 9.9249 trillion won (approximately $7.3 billion USD). DL E&C dropped to sixth place with 9.0352 trillion won (approximately $6.7 billion USD). The list continued with Lotte Engineering & Construction, POSCO E&C, SK ecoplant, and IPARK Hyundai Development.

The results of this evaluation, effective from August 1st, will be utilized in various aspects of the construction industry, including qualifications for public project bids, selection of construction companies, credit ratings, and guarantee assessments. This annual ranking serves as a crucial indicator of the industry's landscape and the competitive standing of its major players.
