Samsung SDS Chief: AI Changes Work, but AX Changes Business

“AI changes work, but AX changes business,” Samsung SDS Chief Executive Lee Jun-hee told an audience at the company’s Real Summit 2026 event in Seoul.

Lee described AX, short for AI transformation, as a redesign of the way work itself is done. Samsung SDS used the event to present a strategy spanning AI infrastructure, platforms and solutions.

Other technology companies also stressed the importance of applying AI across an entire organization. Kim Kyung-hoon, OpenAI’s head in South Korea, compared an AI system without knowledge of a company’s context to hiring a highly intelligent employee but giving that person no access to email or internal systems, then expecting results.

AX means redesigning the way work itself is done from the ground up.

Samsung SDS said it plans to cooperate with OpenAI, Anthropic and other companies that attended the event. The cooperation will focus on enterprise AI adoption, security and identifying new AX business opportunities.

It is like hiring a smart employee who does not know the company’s context, giving that employee no email or system access, and telling them to work it out alone.
