Samusamuvodre, Vakatawa join Barbarians for upcoming fixtures

Swire Shipping Fijian Drua midfielders Tuidraki Samusamuvodre and Virimi Vakatawa are set to represent the prestigious Barbarians FC in their upcoming fixtures against South Africa and Wales. This selection marks a significant milestone for both players and highlights the growing recognition of talent within the Fijian Drua franchise.

This call-up is a first for Samusamuvodre, who has impressed since joining the Drua, accumulating 31 appearances and scoring three tries. His strong performances have also earned him two caps for the Flying Fijians. Vakatawa, an experienced midfielder, will be making his third appearance for the Barbarians, having previously played for the team in 2022 and 2024. He has had a notable debut season with the Drua, featuring in 10 matches and scoring once.

The Barbarians are scheduled to face South Africa this Saturday at 1 a.m. at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium. They will then take on Wales the following Saturday, also at 1 a.m., at Allianz Stadium.
