Sandro Alex admits parallel support for Flávio Bolsonaro in Paraná despite prioritizing Caiado

Federal deputy Sandro Alex (PSD-PR), a candidate for governor of Paraná, stated on Monday that his political group will offer support to more than one presidential candidate in the upcoming election.

According to Alex, the primary support will go to Ronaldo Caiado (PSD). However, he acknowledged that leaders in Paraná also sympathize with Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), Renan Santos (Missão), or Romeu Zema (Novo). "We will be with the party's candidate, who is Caiado. He has already been to Paraná talking with civil society. (...) We also have leaders who walk with us understanding that the name could be either Flávio, Renan, or Zema," Sandro Alex said during a UOL/Folha interview.

Alex attributes this dispersion of support within his base to the historical proximity between Governor Ratinho Júnior, who nominated him as successor, and former President Jair Bolsonaro. He believes this connection legitimizes, in the eyes of his base, the parallel support for Flávio Bolsonaro. "It is natural that you have numerous people who walk with us who will support Flávio Bolsonaro," he stated.

He associated the preference for Flávio within the base with a rejection of Senator Sérgio Moro (PL-PR), who is considered the main adversary in the race for the Paraná governorship and leads in the polls. Alex reiterated his campaign's message differentiating his candidacy from the national dispute, saying, "If Brasília asks for changes, and we understand that it is necessary, Paraná asks for continuity."
