Santiago Wanderers cancels fan buses after warning of possible Ascenso sanction

Santiago Wanderers has withdrawn a plan to provide buses for fans traveling to Quillota after being warned that the initiative could cost the club up to 10 points and bring a financial penalty.

The buses had been announced by Viñabus, a public transport company that sponsors the club. The plan aimed to make it easier for the club’s supporters to reach the stadium where Wanderers will host Deportes Iquique in the Ascenso league.

Wanderers said it asked Viñabus not to proceed after learning that other clubs were considering a formal complaint. The club pointed to Article 66 of the competition rules, which prohibits teams from coordinating with supporter groups. It said no registration system had been created because the arrangements were handled by the transport company.
