Santo Domingo Metro extends hours for Central American Games

The Metro of Santo Domingo is extending its operating hours to accommodate attendees of the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games, Santo Domingo 2026. The public transport system will now run until 11:00 PM each night.

This new schedule begins this Monday and will remain in effect through Saturday, August 8, the final day of the regional sporting event. The Metropolitan Transport Company (EMT) announced the change, stating that the extended hours will allow participants and spectators to attend evening competitions and return home using the metro system.

In addition to the extended hours, the EMT is offering free travel on the Metro and the Santo Domingo Cable Car for all accredited athletes, volunteers, and collaborators during the games. Furthermore, individuals using the parking facilities at Plaza de la Cultura and Bellas Artes will gain free access to the Metro by entering and exiting through the Casandra Damirón and Joaquín Balaguer stations. The EMT encourages citizens to plan their travel accordingly and cooperate to ensure smooth mobility throughout the duration of the sporting competitions.
