Sanxia Nuliang Festival Showcases Local Tea, Bamboo Shoots, and Honey; Mayoral Candidates Offer Support

New Taipei City's Agriculture Bureau is promoting Sanxia's signature agricultural products: tea, bamboo shoots, and honey, through the "Sanxia Nuliang Festival." Held on August 1-2 around Zushi Temple, the event features local small farmers, cultural artisans, and food stalls. The festival aims to showcase Sanxia's unique local culture and cuisine to visitors.

The event highlighted the "Sanxia Nuliang Trio" – Biluochun tea, green bamboo shoots, and honey. This year, Sanxia's green bamboo shoots achieved top honors, winning both the New Taipei King of Bamboo Shoots award and national awards for organic and traceable quality. These award-winning shoots are available for purchase at the Sanxia Farmers' Association booth.

Local young farmers are key to this initiative. Tea farmer Huang Yao-kuan, a recipient of the 8th "Top 100 Young Farmers" award, and beekeeper Chen Kuan-hua, collaborated with the local brand "Bi Cui Tea Drink." They introduced special beverages like "Fei Yu Xian Meng Lu" and "Hu Po Luo Shen Bing Cha," incorporating Sanxia's local Biluochun tea and high-quality honey. These refreshing drinks allow visitors to taste Sanxia's unique terroir.

Sanxia has good mountains and clear water, profound old street and indigo dyeing culture, and its agricultural products are of very high quality.

Agriculture Bureau Director Chen Hsi-hui emphasized Sanxia's favorable natural environment and rich cultural heritage, including its old street and indigo dyeing traditions. He noted that the "Nuliang Trio" brand marketing has successfully encouraged young farmers to return and establish roots. Through technological improvements and innovative approaches, these young farmers have expanded sales channels and boosted product recognition. Their efforts have revitalized Sanxia, blending its historical charm with modern vitality and creating a distinctive new image for the district. The bureau invites the public to visit Sanxia during the summer vacation to enjoy its distinctive, cooling agricultural products and experience its unique blend of culture and innovation.

Political figures also attended the event. Both New Taipei City mayoral candidates, Su Chiao-hui of the Democratic Progressive Party and Li Chi-chuan of the Kuomintang, were present to support the farmers and present awards to outstanding agriculturalists.
