Taipei Launches "Taipei Very Live!" Festival with 78 Performances Over 6 Weeks

Taipei is buzzing with a new cultural initiative, "Taipei Very Live!," designed to invigorate the city's music scene. Launched on August 1, the festival spans six weeks and will host a total of 78 performances across 27 different music venues throughout the capital.

The initiative, supported by the Taipei City Department of Cultural Affairs, aims to bolster original music and provide a platform for local performance spaces. Organizers invite music lovers to explore the city's rhythm and experience its authentic, dynamic musical culture firsthand. The festival seeks to highlight the diversity and energy of Taipei's live music offerings.

Opening night featured a performance by singer Liu Yu-ting at the Taiwanese creative restaurant Zentopia Taipei, offering a blend of cuisine and live music. The festival's programming extends beyond the opening, with a packed schedule for the following days. Venues like Wild Lad will host rock bands such as P!SCO, known for their fusion of punk, electronic, and classical elements. Other spaces will showcase keyboard and percussion performances, jazz quartets, and soulful vocalists performing R&B and Western pop.

Further highlights include performances by artists like Yang Chien-shih and Kuang Tou-chieh at Music Corner, specializing in Black music, jazz, and Western pop. China Pa Dining will present a unique blend of traditional Chinese music and band performances by the Zhi Xi band. The festival promises a rich tapestry of sounds, catering to a wide range of musical tastes and reinforcing Taipei's status as a vibrant hub for live music.
