Šarūnas Jasikevičius’ Fenerbahçe Fall to EuroLeague Champions in Dramatic Defeat, Sargiūnas Has Quiet Game

Fenerbahçe led Olympiacos 74-73 with a little more than two minutes remaining, but the advantage disappeared in the closing stretch. Olympiacos finished the game with a 9-3 run and won 82-77 in the semifinal of a friendly tournament in Crete.

Ignas Sargiūnas spent 19 minutes on the court for the team coached by Šarūnas Jasikevičius. He scored four points, making his only two-point attempt and both free throws, while missing his lone three-point attempt. He also recorded two assists, one rebound, three fouls and drew two fouls.

Wade Baldwin led Fenerbahçe with 16 points, five assists and four steals. Will Clyburn scored 11, while Talen Horton-Tucker added 10. Olympiacos were led by Evan Fournier with 19 points, followed by Donta Hall with 16 and Tyler Dorsey with 15. Cory Joseph and Tyrique Jones each scored 10.

Olympiacos played without Sasha Vezenkov, Jean Montero, Nikola Milutinov and Kostas Papanikolaou. Fenerbahçe were missing Shane Larkin and Trento Forrest. Olympiacos will face Crvena zvezda in the tournament final after the Belgrade team defeated Olimpia Milano in the other semifinal.
