Saudi Air Defenses Intercept Iran-Backed Drone Attack Targeting Eastern Region Oil Facilities

Saudi Arabia's air defenses successfully intercepted and destroyed multiple drones that were attempting to target petroleum facilities in the Eastern Region, the Ministry of Defense announced.

The drone attacks were launched during the past hours from Iraqi territory and were carried out by Iran-affiliated militias.

According to Major General Turki Al-Maliki, the official spokesperson for the ministry, the drone attacks occurred within the past few hours and originated from Iraqi territory. He attributed the launches to Iran-affiliated militias.

Al-Maliki characterized the incidents as "terrorist attempts" aimed at vital energy infrastructure. He reiterated Saudi Arabia's inherent right to defend its territory, security, and national capabilities. Furthermore, the Kingdom explicitly reserves the right to retaliate against those responsible for the attacks at a time and place of its choosing.
