Saudi Arabia Launches Package Visa Initiative to Boost Tourism

Saudi Arabia is piloting a new tourism initiative designed to streamline travel for visitors from specific countries. The program, termed "package visas," bundles essential travel components like flights and accommodation with the visa application process.

Tourists from Egypt, Jordan, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and Mexico are eligible to participate. By booking travel packages through designated service providers in their home countries, they can secure round-trip flights, lodging in at least four-star hotels, travel insurance, and the visa itself. Upon payment, the visa is typically issued via email within 48 hours.

Ahmed Al Khateeb, Saudi Arabia's Minister of Tourism, stated that the package visa reflects the nation's commitment to enhancing visitor convenience. "By integrating the visa issuance process with the booking of the stay itself, we are simplifying travel and enabling a more cohesive experience for tourists," he explained.

The visa allows for a single entry and stays ranging from two to 88 days. However, it does not cover Umrah pilgrimages to Mecca, nor does it include accommodation in Mecca or Medina, though holders can visit these holy cities on excursions. The visa fee is 402 Saudi riyals (approximately $107 USD), which includes the visa issuance fee and health insurance.

To qualify, the minimum package value is 4000 Saudi riyals ($1067 USD) per adult for the first two days, with an additional 1000 riyals ($267 USD) per day thereafter. Saudi Arabia plans to expand the program to more countries as part of its Vision 2030 plan to diversify its economy. The kingdom aims to attract 150 million tourists annually by 2030, a significant increase from the 123 million recorded in 2025, reducing its reliance on the oil industry.
