The situation in the Red Sea has escalated as a Saudi-led military coalition conducted airstrikes on targets in Yemen. The coalition stated the strikes were in retaliation for an attack on a ship sailing under the Saudi flag and accused the Iran-backed Houthi militia of "maritime terrorism" for jeopardizing commercial navigation.

Coalition spokesperson Turki al-Maliki announced on X that the airstrikes in Yemen's Hodeidah province specifically targeted Houthi positions from which commercial shipping in the Red Sea was being endangered. He asserted that the military operation, which has concluded, was proportionate and achieved its objectives, emphasizing that the port of Hodeidah was not attacked.

The channel claimed that Saudi attacks struck facilities of the state telecommunications company in Hodeidah city and also hit the island of Kamaran off Yemen's west coast.
