Saudi Prince Died of Drug and Alcohol Overdose in London Hotel

The body of Saudi Arabian prince Abdullah bin Fahad al Saud was discovered in the bathroom of his London hotel room on November 25, 2025. The 29-year-old royal had checked into the Marriott Hotel in Kensington on November 19 for a week-long stay.

An inquest at Inner West London Coroner's Court heard that the prince had recently completed a detoxification program at a city clinic. He was treated for alcohol, benzodiazepines, and the anti-anxiety drug pregabalin. Before his release, he was also diagnosed with an upper respiratory tract infection.

CCTV footage showed the prince smoking outside his hotel room the evening before his death. A cleaner later found him lying fully clothed on the bathroom floor of his locked room. Despite attempts to resuscitate him by ambulance and hotel security, he was pronounced dead.

Toxicology results indicated a blood alcohol level of 222mg per 100ml, nearly three times England's legal drink-drive limit, which could have induced a coma. Potentially fatal levels of the "party drug" GHB were also detected, along with traces of cannabis and anti-anxiety medications like Xanax. The prince had a history of alcohol misuse and Xanax dependency.

A post-mortem examination found no acute or chronic illnesses but determined cardiac arrest resulted from the combination of drugs and alcohol. No evidence of third-party involvement was found. The Saudi Royal Court confirmed his death and announced funeral prayers would be held in Riyadh.
