Saxony-Anhalt Premier Announces Additional $100 Million Investment for SKW Piesteritz Chemical Plant

Saxony-Anhalt's Minister President Sven Schulze has revealed plans for an additional 100 million euro investment in the SKW Piesteritz chemical plant located in Wittenberg. Schulze learned of the new funding on the day of the MDR election arena program from the head of the nitrogen works.

This latest injection of capital means that the total investment in the Piesteritz site will now exceed 200 million euros. Schulze indicated that the company's leadership had successfully concluded further negotiations, leading to this increased commitment. Previously, the company had linked its continued presence at the site to the abolition of gas storage levies.

Following discussions with owners in Prague, an initial investment of 100 million euros was announced about two years ago. Schulze described the newly announced additional investment as a significant vote of confidence in the region. "It's about jobs and employment. That is the essential thing," the Minister President emphasized, highlighting the importance of the investment for the local workforce.
