Scarlett Martínez Airport receives first flight from Quito, expanding international air links

The Scarlett Martínez International Airport in Río Hato, Panama, has welcomed its inaugural flight from Quito, Ecuador. Operated by Aeroregional in collaboration with MaxiTravel, the new route is set to operate flights every four days, with expectations of bringing more than 150 visitors per flight. Jorge Correa, deputy general administrator of the Panama Tourism Authority, highlighted the significance of this new connection, stating it will invigorate tourism activity in Coclé province and the Pacific Riviera. This boost is anticipated to benefit local hotels, restaurants, and other businesses reliant on the tourism sector. Expanding on Panama's growing international connectivity, Norberto Cano, administrator of the Scarlett Martínez Airport, announced an upcoming route to Bogotá, Colombia, scheduled to commence in October via the airline Wingo. Furthermore, Canadian airlines Air Transat and WestJet are increasing their flight frequencies from Canada to Panama. These airlines will transition from four weekly flights to six, with plans for daily flights during the peak season starting in October. The expansion of these air connections aims to strengthen the influx of international visitors and stimulate greater economic activity in the central region of the country.
