A German Cup match between Waldhof Mannheim and FC Kaiserslautern descended into chaos, transforming the pitch into a battleground with flares and riot police. The intense atmosphere, which had been simmering throughout the game, boiled over after the 90th minute when Kaiserslautern captain Marlon Ritter engaged in a heated dispute with Mannheim players.

The confrontation quickly spread to the stands, with fans throwing objects onto the field, including smoke bombs, cups, flares, and umbrellas. Some Mannheim supporters breached security barriers and entered the playing area. Flares were also launched towards the opposing crowd, creating a scene of widespread disorder.

Players immediately retreated to the locker rooms as police forces, equipped with shields, dogs, and mounted units, took control of the field. Reports indicate that over 100 police officers were deployed to manage the situation, which led to a roughly 20-minute suspension of the match.
