Scorching heatwave continues in South Korea, temperatures to reach 39 degrees Celsius

Much of South Korea is bracing for continued extreme heat as temperatures are forecast to soar, with some areas expected to hit a scorching 39 degrees Celsius.

The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) issued a warning on July 31, stating that heatwave advisories remain in effect across most of the country. The most severe heat is anticipated in parts of South Jeolla and Gyeongsang provinces, where the mercury could climb to 39 degrees Celsius. The perceived temperature is also expected to exceed 38 degrees Celsius in these regions, posing a life-threatening risk.

Adding to the discomfort, many areas will experience tropical nights, with overnight temperatures failing to drop below 25 degrees Celsius. The KMA urged citizens to take necessary precautions, such as ensuring adequate rest and hydration, to manage the ongoing heat.

Visibility may be reduced in some coastal areas of South Jeolla due to dense fog in the early morning. However, the overall air quality is expected to be at a "normal" level nationwide, with some areas potentially experiencing "good" air quality in the morning.
