The Chinese workplace comedy "Galaxy Writers" delves into the harsh realities faced by aspiring screenwriters. The film centers on two ambitious writers who craft a script they believe is destined for cinematic history, only to be crushed by the relentless demands of clients and the brutal world of seeking funding and investment.

Director Li Kuo shared that the movie draws heavily from personal experience, with approximately half of its narrative rooted in reality. He recounted periods of intense pressure, including living on a friend's couch for half a year and experiencing panic attacks due to work-related stress. These real-life struggles, he explained, were often "slightly processed" to create the film's seemingly exaggerated yet relatable scenarios, leading to moments of shared melancholy amidst the laughter.

A central conflict in the film pits the two screenwriters against each other due to their opposing personalities. Zhang Yijian, played by Song Muzi, is a staunch defender of his creative integrity, unwilling to accept any modifications to his work. In contrast, Sun Tan, portrayed by He Wenjun, is the quintessential "whatever the client says is fine" type. Their contrasting approaches, one too rigid, the other too flexible, create tension as they strive to protect their shared cinematic dream.

Coincidentally, He Wenjun had actually worked as a delivery driver in real life. He recalled his time in Shanghai, chasing his dreams while delivering food on his motorcycle. The memory of navigating rainy winter streets, grappling with a profound sense of purposelessness, remains deeply etched in his mind.

"Galaxy Writers" has garnered significant acclaim, securing both the Jury Award and Best Screenplay at the FIRST Youth Film Festival. Esteemed directors Jiang Wen and Stephen Chow have also publicly lauded the film. Jiang Wen described it as "better than good," while Chow, known for his discerning taste, rarely commented but stated, "There are few movies that can hold my attention all the way through."
