While the seagull situation at Helsinki's Market Square seems slightly calmer this summer, Joensuu's gulls are reportedly exhibiting a more aggressive stance, fiercely protecting their young. This has prompted Helsingin Sanomat to investigate whether the Joensuu gulls are as audacious and brazen as those found in the capital.

Reports from local publications like Karjalainen and Yle have highlighted the problem in Joensuu. The newspaper is now seeking to determine the extent of the gulls' boldness in Joensuu and compare it to the well-known behavior of seagulls in Helsinki. Rizqi Maulana, a visitor to Helsinki, noted that he enjoys the city's Market Square partly due to the abundance of seagulls there, indicating a certain tolerance or even appreciation for their presence in some contexts.
