Searching for the Next Đình Bắc, Công Phương in the U13 Age Group

The upcoming U13 National Youth Football Tournament, "Yamaha Cup 2026," is poised to be a crucial platform for identifying and nurturing the next generation of Vietnamese football stars. This annual event, a long-standing collaboration between Tien Phong Newspaper and the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), has consistently served as a cradle for emerging talent, producing notable players who have gone on to represent the nation.

Past editions of the tournament have showcased future stars such as Duy Mạnh, Quang Hải, Tuấn Hải, Văn Toàn, Hoàng Đức, Văn Khang, Đình Bắc, and Công Phương. The success of players like Đình Bắc and Văn Khang, who participated in the U13 tournament in 2017 and have since achieved prominence in national teams, serves as a powerful inspiration for the current U13 cohort. Their journey highlights the tournament's significance in providing a pathway to professional football.

This year's tournament is scheduled to run from June 2 to July 14, involving 47 teams from 23 provinces across Vietnam. The qualifying rounds will take place in three regions – Hai Phong, Dak Lak, and Quang Ngai – from June 2 to June 22. The top 16 teams will advance to the final round, which will be held in Hai Phong from June 30 to July 14. The VFF President, Mr. Trần Quốc Tuấn, expressed his hope for the tournament's success in continuing to discover new talents for Vietnamese football.

Beyond the competition, the tournament also offers significant prize money, with the champion team receiving 30 million VND, the runner-up 15 million VND, and the two third-place teams 10 million VND each. A fair-play award also comes with a 13 million VND prize. The "Yamaha Cup" has become synonymous with grassroots football development in Vietnam, reflecting the nation's passion for the sport and its commitment to investing in its future.
