Second Suspect Arrested in Belgrade Grenade Attack

Belgrade police have arrested a second suspect, identified as M.K., aged 20, in connection with a grenade attack that occurred on June 26. The suspect is accused of participating with a previously arrested individual, L.R., in throwing two hand grenades at a river barge nightclub and another grenade at a nearby night club.

Authorities from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Criminal Police Department in Smederevo, and other collaborating units conducted an intensive investigation. They arrested M.K. in Belgrade on suspicion of causing general endangerment and illegal production, possession, carrying, and trafficking of weapons and explosives.

Following the criminal acts, M.K. had been hiding in a rented apartment in Šabac. Law enforcement located him, and after a brief attempt to escape, he was apprehended. The Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Smederevo has ordered a 48-hour detention for M.K. He will be brought before the competent prosecutor with a criminal complaint.
