Selangor FC Ready Under Kim Pan Gon with Strategic Coaching Revamp

Selangor FC is fully prepared for the new Malaysian League season under the guidance of manager Kim Pan Gon, having strategically overhauled its coaching staff to pursue success in every competition. Despite taking over last season, the South Korean manager's positive impact has secured the continued trust of the club's management.

To foster team growth, Selangor has introduced three new coaching staff members, each bringing extensive experience to complement the existing structure. Pan Gon will continue to be assisted by Lee Soon Seok, Shahrom Kalam, and Yuki Fujimoto. Firdaus Tan Aziz, formerly the head coach for Selangor's U-18 and U-20 teams, has been promoted to fourth assistant coach, underscoring Selangor's commitment to developing local talent by offering him a platform to transfer his player development experience to the senior team.

Beyond strengthening the technical department, Selangor has also enlisted the services of fitness expert Joel Dones, who replaces Nicolas Maidana. Dones brings considerable international experience, having previously worked with English club Watford and gained experience in India and Mexico. He will be joined by South Korean goalkeeper coach Cho Jun Ho, reuniting with Pan Gon for the third time in their careers, having previously worked together at Harimau Malaya and South Korean club Ulsan HD.

"The management hopes that the arrival of these three new coaches will bring new expertise, ideas, and energy to the team in its pursuit of success throughout the 2026/27 season," stated SFC in a press release. Early preparations in Thailand have yielded positive results, with the team securing victories against Ratchaburi and Tai Po FC in recent friendly matches.
