Selangor judoka wins gold at SUKMA 2026

Selangor's judo contingent at the SUKMA 2026 games celebrated a significant achievement as Muhammad Ashraf Md Khairuldin secured a gold medal in the men's under-81 kilogram category. The final match, held at IDCC Shah Alam, saw Ashraf defeat Terengganu's Muhammad Amsyar Azizi with an Ippon in a tense 'golden score' round, clinching the championship title.

Ashraf's gold medal continued the impressive momentum of the Selangor judo squad, who have been standout performers at the games. This victory added to the team's tally, following the earlier success of female athlete Nur Sufia Arisha Mohamed Rasidi, who had opened Selangor's gold medal account in the judo event by winning the under-44kg category the previous day.

Adding further to Selangor's medal haul, Cebastian Chee Zhen Yi contributed a bronze medal in the men's under-66kg category. Chee demonstrated remarkable resilience, mounting a comeback in the repechage round. He ultimately secured his podium finish by defeating Pahang's Ammar Haziq with an Ippon, showcasing a strong fighting spirit.

These successes in judo significantly bolster Selangor's overall standing in the SUKMA 2026 medal table, reinforcing their position as a competitive force in the national games.
