Senator Wagner, wife allegedly traveled on plane owned by ex-partner of banker under investigation

Brazilian Federal Police reports suggest Senator Jaques Wagner and his wife, Maria de Fátima Carneiro de Mendonça, may have used a private aircraft belonging to Augusto Lima for a trip to a location known as "Ilha da Paixão" (Passion Island) in October 2023. Lima is identified as a former business partner of Daniel Vorcaro, who was involved with Banco Master.

According to the police document, which was made public by Supreme Court Minister André Mendonça, Maria de Fátima sent messages of gratitude to Lima after the weekend trip. One message read, "We love you guys." The report is part of an ongoing investigation into allegations that Banco Master managers may have granted undue advantages to the senator and his family members.

Senator Wagner was the subject of search and seizure warrants on June 18 as part of "Operation Compliance Zero." At the time, he denied any wrongdoing or acting in favor of the banker. The Federal Police's findings suggest the trip's organization began around October 11, 2023, with Wagner informing Lima of their acceptance of an invitation for the following Saturday. The destination, "Ilha da Paixão," is inferred from messages exchanged between Wagner and Lima, as well as photos shared in a WhatsApp group showing family and guests at the location.

Following the trip, messages from "Fatima JAQUES," identified as the senator's wife, expressed thanks to Lima. The police interpret these messages as evidence of a personal and familial relationship between Wagner and Lima. The island itself was not formally registered under Lima's name, but investigators believe he maintained de facto possession and control. This alleged trip is one of at least four instances where Wagner may have been transported on aircraft linked to Lima and Banco Master.
