Seoul plans 700 public homes on long-vacant Yangjae site, with construction targeted for 2028

A former Korea Educational Development Institute site in Seoul’s Seocho-gu, vacant for nearly a decade, is being considered for a 700-unit public housing project.

The project has entered the strategic environmental impact assessment process. About one-third of the full site will be designated for housing, while the remaining area will be developed as parks, green space, roads and other infrastructure.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Korea Land and Housing Corporation said the assessment for the Yangjae public housing district began on Sept. 2 and will continue until Oct. 2. Construction is targeted to begin in 2028.
