South Korea’s Justice Ministry has announced a broad set of promotions and transfers across the country’s correctional system, including new prison chiefs, detention-center officials and department heads.

The appointments include promotions to secretary-level posts in the ministry’s medical, classification review and drug-offender rehabilitation units. New security chiefs were named at Seoul, Suwon, Incheon, Seoul Southern, Daejeon, Jeonju and Busan facilities, as well as several other prisons and vocational training institutions.

The ministry also named new heads for correctional facilities in Yeoju, Gangneung, Yeongwol, Jinju, Gimcheon, Gyeongju, Cheonan, Cheongju Women’s Prison, Mokpo, Jangheung and Suncheon. Additional appointments cover branch offices, deputy wardens, general affairs chiefs, security chiefs and rehabilitation departments in regional correctional offices and facilities.

Other government and public institutions listed personnel changes. The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety transferred an official to the Foreign Ministry as a U.S.-based attaché and reassigned officials to international cooperation, food safety, biotechnology and drug-safety posts. The Korea Securities Depository appointed new department heads for regional services, public relations, risk management and next-generation business operations.

The Korea Intelligence and Information Society Promotion Agency named executives and team leaders for artificial intelligence infrastructure, AI government services, cloud conversion and information-resource innovation. JTBC appointed leaders for its mergers and acquisitions task force, while KBS, Green Economy News, News W, Asia Today and Financial Post announced editorial and administrative appointments. Korea National University of Arts also named new academic and institutional officials.
