Serbia Unveils First Humanoid Robot, Eyes Military Applications

Serbia has taken a significant step into the future of technology with the unveiling of its first domestically produced humanoid robot. Developed in partnership with the Chinese company Mint, the robot was presented at a ceremony in Šabac, marking a strategic move for the nation in the high-tech manufacturing sector.

President Aleksandar Vučić announced that the robot's first military application will be showcased in just two weeks. He revealed that Serbian experts have developed advanced software enabling remote-controlled weaponry capable of delivering "significant strikes against enemy forces and enemy personnel." This development signals Serbia's ambition to integrate cutting-edge robotics into its defense capabilities.

Qin Junhua, founder of the Mint group, expressed satisfaction with the collaboration, highlighting Serbia's recognition of the project as a strategic opportunity. Mint plans to expand its product line beyond humanoid robots and drones to include sophisticated batteries, further contributing to Serbia's technological development and its positioning on the global high-tech map.

The company intends to establish a new industrial park in Inđija, where it will collaborate with local partners to produce robots, robotic machinery, and unmanned aerial vehicles. President Vučić stated that the military will soon demonstrate the robots' capabilities, emphasizing their ability to handle "very serious weapons."

Vučić also shared a video on Instagram of himself playing soccer with the humanoid robot, humorously captioning it, "Technology is advancing, but the goalkeeper is not giving up yet!" He expressed hope that the Šabac factory will assemble and eventually produce over 5,000 robots annually, creating significant employment opportunities and positioning Serbia as a leader in advanced manufacturing.
