Serbian Commissariat: 250 refugee families provided housing support this year

The Serbian Commissariat for Refugees and Migration has reported providing housing support to 250 families of refugees and internally displaced persons throughout Serbia since the beginning of 2026.

This effort underscores the state's commitment to responsibly and continuously caring for vulnerable families, with the clear objective of securing safer and more dignified living conditions. The Commissariat collaborates with cities and municipalities across Serbia to implement various programs. These programs offer diverse forms of housing assistance, including the allocation of construction materials, provision of rural houses with land, and other housing solutions.

Nataša Stanisavljević, the Commissioner for Refugees and Migration, stated, "The fact that we have provided housing support to 250 families since the beginning of the year shows that the state's systematic and responsible policy continues, and that the results of that policy are reaching people across Serbia."

To date, the Commissariat has facilitated over 30,000 housing solutions for refugee and internally displaced families nationwide. Additionally, more than 23,000 families have received support through various economic empowerment programs. These initiatives have collectively provided shelter for nearly 100,000 individuals. The Commissariat plans to continue these support programs in cooperation with local self-government units.
