Serbian Government allocates €1.9 million for EXPO 2027 and National Stadium

The Serbian government has approved the allocation of approximately 1.9 million euros from its state budget reserves to support two major projects: the EXPO 2027 specialized exhibition and the construction of a new National Football Stadium. The decision was published in the Official Gazette.

The allocated funds are designated for two state-owned utility companies. Elektrodistribucija Srbije, the electricity distribution company, will receive support for the infrastructure required for EXPO 2027. Elektromreze Srbije, the power transmission system operator, will use its portion to fund the installation of power lines essential for the National Stadium project.

This recent allocation comes after significant spending earlier in the year. An analysis by Forbes Serbia revealed that the Ministry of Finance had already spent 6.9 million euros during the first half of 2024 specifically to "support the implementation of EXPO 2027."

The decree authorizing these funds was signed by Prime Minister Djuro Macut on behalf of the Serbian Government, indicating a clear commitment to advancing both the international exhibition and the national sports infrastructure.
