Serbian List VP: Kosovo Headed for New Elections Before Year-End

Dalibor Jevtić, vice president of the Serbian List, anticipates new snap parliamentary elections in Kosovo before the end of 2026. He pointed to the August 6 deadline for the parliamentary session's constitution, stating there are currently no positive indicators for institutional change. Jevtić suggested this situation signals a continuation of the political crisis, which he attributes to Prime Minister Albin Kurti. He described Kurti as part of the problem, impacting the lives of all citizens in Kosovo and Metohija, not just Serbs.

Jevtić also detailed recent events where Kosovo police searched Serbs attending a monastery celebration near Prizren. He reported visible sniper presence around the monastery and that citizens' car tires were punctured. Actor Milan Vasić was reportedly taken for questioning about the songs he intended to perform at the celebration.

August 6 is the penultimate day within the legal deadline for the parliament to be constituted, but there are currently no positive signals that the situation will change institutionally.

Both the Serbian List and the Serbian state leadership are engaging with international representatives to highlight the challenges faced by the Serbian people in Kosovo. However, Jevtić expressed doubt that international actors fully grasp the extent of the Serbs' difficulties.

And that is a message that the political crisis will continue, because crisis is something in which (Prime Minister) Albin Kurti is the best. He is not part of the solution, he is part of the problem that affects the lives of not only Serbs, but all citizens in Kosovo and Metohija.
