Serbian Socialist Party Lawmaker Backs Independent Election Run

Dušan Bajatović, a lawmaker from the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS), has publicly declared his support for the party to contest the upcoming parliamentary elections as a standalone entity. Speaking during a parliamentary session concerning a confidence vote for Prime Minister Đura Macut, Bajatović asserted his preference for an independent electoral bid.

"I advocate for us to go to the elections independently. What is the problem? There is no problem at all," Bajatović stated. He also acknowledged that political alliances are fluid, adding, "If we reach a different political agreement, depending on what the political scene looks like, all agreements are possible."

His comments come shortly after the SPS party leader and Minister of Internal Affairs, Ivica Dačić, announced the party's readiness for elections. Dačić has reportedly instructed party committees to submit proposals for parliamentary and presidential candidates within the next month, signaling a proactive stance from the party leadership.
