Sergejus Maslobojevas dedicates touching words to Jevgenijus Šuklinas: thank you for the friendship

Sergejus Maslobojevas shared a touching tribute to his departed friend, Jevgenijus Šuklinas, expressing gratitude for their bond. "You were energetic, exemplary, and righteous! Thank you for the experience and friendship. Rest in peace, friend," Maslobojevas wrote in a post shared with Delfi readers, accompanied by personal photos of the two.

Šuklinas passed away unexpectedly on Thursday evening at the age of 41. His death prompted public condolences from President Gitanas Nausėda, fellow politicians, and members of the sports community. On Sunday, Šuklinas was laid to rest in the old cemetery of Visaginas.

Jevgenijus Šuklinas had a notable career, first as a sportsman and later in politics. He was a canoeist who competed in the 2012 London Olympics and a medalist in world and European championships. After his sports career, he transitioned into business and politics, entering the Seimas (Lithuanian Parliament) in 2024 with the Liberal Movement party. He had previously served on the Visaginas municipal council and held the position of acting mayor.
