Serie del Caribe Kids: Dominican Republic defeats Mexico Rojo 11-1

The Dominican Republic solidified its dominance in the preliminary round of the III Serie del Caribe Kids, defeating Mexico Rojo 11-1. The victory, fueled by a powerful offense featuring four home runs and effective pitching, capped an undefeated 4-0 run for the Dominican team in the qualifying stage. This win also extended their remarkable consecutive winning streak in the Serie del Caribe Kids to 17 games since 2024.

Dominican Republic's offense exploded for 11 runs on nine hits, with Daniel Paniagua being the star of the game. Paniagua went 3-for-3, smashing two home runs, driving in five runs, and scoring three times. Teammate Germán Paulino also contributed significantly, hitting two home runs in a 3-for-2 performance that included three RBIs and two runs scored. Together, Paniagua and Paulino accounted for eight of the team's 11 runs.

On the pitching front, Melvin Cabrera (2-0) delivered a stellar performance, working 2.2 innings without allowing any hits or runs, while striking out two batters and issuing one walk. Carlos Tomas closed out the game, giving up one hit and one run over 1.1 innings. Mexico Rojo's pitcher, Paúl Alejandro Ríos (0-1), took the loss after surrendering four hits and six runs in 2.2 innings.

The Dominican team broke the scoreless tie in the second inning with Paniagua's solo home run. They then sealed the game with a six-run outburst in the third inning, highlighted by Paniagua's grand slam and Paulino's subsequent solo home run, extending the lead to 7-0. Further runs in the fourth inning, including another home run from Paulino, brought the score to 11-0 before Mexico Rojo managed to score a single run in the bottom of the fourth to avoid a shutout.

Following this result, the Dominican Republic leads the standings with a perfect 4-0 record. Mexico Verde is second at 2-1, followed by Mexico Rojo (2-2), Panama (1-2), and Puerto Rico (0-4). The tournament continues with upcoming games in the final day of the preliminary round.
