Seven Injured After Brawl Between Mothers and Children in Vienna Football Cage

A brawl erupted between mothers and children in a football cage at Yppenplatz in Vienna-Ottakring on Tuesday evening, leaving seven people injured.

The conflict reportedly started among children playing football. An eight-year-old boy joined the game and played very roughly, disturbing the other children. These children then approached their relatives to complain. The situation escalated when a Somali mother confronted the Syrian mother of the eight-year-old boy, leading to a verbal altercation.

The dispute turned physical when the 24-year-old mother of the rough-playing child grabbed a broom and struck the other mother, who was also 24 years old. The fight involved nine individuals in total, including the children. During the melee, a child's bicycle was thrown, hitting one woman on the head. The identity of the person who threw the bicycle is still under investigation.

Emergency medical services treated several injured individuals, including children. The police have identified the 24-year-old Syrian mother, the 24-year-old Somali mother, and the Syrian boy (who is not yet criminally responsible) as suspects. Other injured parties included a 37-year-old and a 50-year-old Somali woman. Police officers from the Ottakring district command were called to the scene by witnesses to intervene.
