Wedding-bound car crash in Erzurum leaves one dead, one seriously injured

A tragic accident on the road to a wedding in Erzurum, Turkey, has claimed one life and left another person seriously injured. The incident occurred around 7:00 p.m. in the Yağan neighborhood of Köprüköy district.

The victims, identified as bank employees Gamze Kalay and Burak Sünger, were traveling by car from Hınıs district to attend a colleague's wedding in Erzurum city center. While en route, the driver, Burak Sünger, reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to flip multiple times before rolling off the road into a ditch.

Emergency health and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the scene following the accident report. Upon arrival, medical personnel confirmed that Gamze Kalay had tragically lost her life. Burak Sünger, who was injured in the crash, received initial medical attention at the scene before being transported to Erzurum City Hospital for further treatment.

Following an examination by gendarmerie teams, Gamze Kalay's body was taken to the Köprüköy State Hospital morgue. Burak Sünger's condition is reported to be serious. The investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.
