Vietnam is charting a course to become a formidable maritime nation in the 21st century, focusing on sustainable economic development and enhanced national security. This strategic vision is being shaped through high-level government consultations, emphasizing the critical role of the sea in the country's future prosperity.

Central to this endeavor is the comprehensive review and implementation of Resolution No. 36-NQ/TW, adopted in 2018. This resolution outlines a roadmap for the sustainable development of Vietnam's marine economy through 2030, with a forward-looking perspective extending to 2045. The current discussions, chaired by General Secretary and President Tô Lâm, involve key policy strategists and relevant agencies.
