Sheinbaum Meets Governors to Oversee IMSS-Bienestar Healthcare Integration

President Claudia Sheinbaum convened with federal officials and governors from 24 states at the National Palace to review the progress of integrating the IMSS-Bienestar healthcare system.

The primary objective of the meeting was to guarantee that medical services provided under the IMSS-Bienestar program are of high quality, universally accessible, and free of charge for the Mexican people. Sheinbaum emphasized this goal on social media, stating, "In the National Palace, we work with governors from states incorporated into IMSS-Bienestar to supervise progress. The objective is to guarantee quality, universal, and free medical attention for the people of Mexico."

Attendees included key figures such as the Secretary of the Interior, Rosa Icela Rodríguez; Legal Counsel Luisa María Alcalde; Secretary of Health, David Kershenobich Stalnikowitz; and Alejandro Svarch Pérez, Director General of IMSS-Bienestar. Zoé Robledo, Director General of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), and Martí Batres Guadarrama, Director General of the Institute of Social Security and Services for State Workers (ISSSTE), were also present.

The 24 states that have so far integrated IMSS-Bienestar into their health offerings are Baja California, Baja California Sur, Campeche, Chiapas, Mexico City, Colima, State of Mexico, Guerrero, Hidalgo, Michoacán, Morelos, Nayarit, Oaxaca, Puebla, Quintana Roo, San Luis Potosí, Sinaloa, Sonora, Tabasco, Tamaulipas, Tlaxcala, Veracruz, Yucatán, and Zacatecas.
