Shettima Arrives in Sierra Leone for ECOWAS Mid-Year Summit

Nigerian Vice President Kashim Shettima arrived in Lungi, Sierra Leone, on Sunday to participate in the 69th Summit of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Heads of State and Government. His arrival at the Sierra Leone International Airport was marked by a welcome from several dignitaries.

Among those present to receive the Vice President were Sierra Leone's Vice President, Dr. Mohamed Jalloh, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Amb. Sola Enikanolaiye. Also in attendance were Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Sierra Leone, Amb. Ayo Luther-Ogbomode, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, and the Nigerian Permanent Representative to ECOWAS, Amb. Olawale Awe, among others.

The high-level gathering convenes Heads of State, government officials, diplomats, and development partners from across West Africa. The agenda includes discussions on critical regional matters such as peace, security, economic integration, and sustainable development. Nigeria's active participation in these summits highlights its dedication to regional diplomacy and its resolve to enhance cooperation among all ECOWAS member states.
