SHINee's Minho Appointed Ambassador for Korean War Remains Recovery Project

K-pop star Minho, a member of the group SHINee, has taken on a new role as the seventh ambassador for South Korea's initiative to recover and identify the remains of soldiers who died in the Korean War. The appointment, made by the Ministry of National Defense's Remains Recovery and Identification Directorate (MCRID), took place at the National Seoul Cemetery.

Minho visited the MCRID's identification center prior to the ceremony to learn about the project's current status and significance. He also paid respects at the National Cemetery's memorial tower and the Hall of Unnamed Heroes. As ambassador, Minho is expected to lend his talents to MCRID's major events and allow the use of his image for official posters and promotional materials.

The MCRID cited Minho's "healthy energy" and "strong sense of responsibility," noting his voluntary enlistment in the Marine Corps and his dedication during his final leave. They stated that his image aligns with the MCRID's mission to honor those who sacrificed for their country.

Minho, who completed his mandatory military service as a Marine sergeant in November of last year, expressed his pride and sense of responsibility. Jeon Byung-hee, head of the MCRID, thanked Minho for accepting the role and expressed hope that the appointment will draw greater attention to the importance of the remains recovery project, especially among younger generations.
