Shocked school board meets police after attempted terror plot

A school board is grappling with shock and concern after three teenage boys were charged with attempted terrorism targeting Hadsten School in eastern Jutland, Denmark. The alleged plot involved planning to harm or kill multiple individuals at the school using online platforms.

Henrik Mørck Mogensen, the chairman of the school board, described the situation as "new" and expressed that both he and other parents are "worried and shocked." He noted that the arrested individuals are not believed to have any direct connection to the school, a detail that has added to the bewilderment surrounding the case.

In response to the incident, the Favrskov Municipality activated its emergency preparedness plan. An information meeting was scheduled for Tuesday, bringing together the school board, police, municipal representatives, and school staff. The primary concern for the school board is understanding the potential for further threats, though police have indicated they assess the situation as safe.

There is no knowledge of why Hadsten School was the target. But the accused have no immediate relation to the school, the police have told us. But one is worried, and it came as a big shock.

The three boys, two aged 16 and one aged 15, were arrested on Monday morning. The alleged planning occurred via correspondence on platforms like Discord and Telegram, with the intention of frightening the population. The charges state that their actions were in concert and with the intent to cause fear, but their plans were thwarted by their arrest. The boys have reportedly pleaded not guilty during the court proceedings.
