Short closures: Storms cause trees to fall on Bavarian autobahns

Severe weather in Bavaria led to temporary closures on two autobahns in Upper Bavaria after trees fell onto the roadways. On the A8, between the Rohrdorf and Achenmühle junctions in the Rosenheim district, a tree obstructed the carriageway, requiring a roughly 30-minute closure for clearing by firefighters. This incident resulted in a minor traffic jam.

Similarly, on the A95 autobahn, approximately 70 kilometers away, a tree fell between the Kochel am See and Sindelsdorf junctions in the Weilheim-Schongau district, necessitating another clearing operation by the fire department. Police noted that overall, severe weather incidents were limited, with the Upper Bavaria South police headquarters recording about 25 calls by late evening.

The German Weather Service had issued warnings for severe weather in the Upper Bavaria and Swabia regions, anticipating heavy rain and strong gusts of wind up to 100 kilometers per hour. Despite the warnings, no injuries were reported in connection with the fallen trees or other weather-related incidents across the southern half of the state.
