Show creators defend editing after influencer's criticism

Lithuanian influencer D. Dirkstys has publicly voiced his dissatisfaction with the editing of the show "Nepatogūs klausimai" (Inconvenient Questions), alleging that crucial segments of his discussion were omitted. Dirkstys took to Instagram to question why "essential discussion points" were cut from the "GO3" episodes, especially since he believed he was editing them himself.

In response, show creators Augustas Balsys and host R. Mackevičius defended their editing process. Balsys explained that the program, originally a 2 hour and 30 minute live recording, is condensed into a 1 hour and 48 minute final product. Mackevičius expressed surprise, noting that previous guests on similar shows had no complaints about his editing. He pointed out that editing is intended to shorten the duration, make the video interesting, maintain dynamics, avoid repetition, and ensure viewer engagement.

Balsys further elaborated that the editing adheres to dramaturgical principles. This involves not only removing errors but also maintaining conversational tempo, eliminating unnecessary pauses, and excising content deemed uninteresting, off-topic, or confusing. He stressed that the goal is to create a cohesive final product without intentionally diminishing any participant's contribution.

The creators specifically addressed one instance Dirkstys might have found objectionable: a moment where Mackevičius asked if Dirkstys feared his upcoming fight with Sergėjus Moslobojev. Dirkstys responded, "I fear nothing." Mackevičius then quipped, "Really? Don't lie, Oksana is sitting next to you, laughing," implying that men who claim to fear nothing might still fear their loved ones. Dirkstys, apparently misunderstanding the remark as mockery, replied, "You. Your stories." This sentence was removed because the creators deemed it unnecessary for the concise dialogue. The show's team views Dirkstys's public outcry as another attempt to gain attention, with Mackevičius quoting a Lithuanian proverb: "Don't blame the mirror if the face is crooked."
