Showers may continue as Croatia issues wind and heat warnings

Croatia is facing a changeable day, with temperatures forecast between 28 and 32 C and reaching 35 C in Dalmatia, the Croatian Meteorological and Hydrological Service said.

The interior may see cloudy periods and rain in the morning, especially in eastern and northern areas. Scattered showers could develop elsewhere in the afternoon. The Adriatic will remain mostly sunny, although strong bora winds are expected below the Velebit range in the morning.

Yellow warnings have been issued for wind across much of the coast and in the Osijek, Zagreb and Rijeka regions. The Osijek and Zagreb areas also face a risk of thunderstorms, while Split and Dubrovnik are under heat-wave warnings.

The Croatian Automobile Club said wind restrictions were in force on parts of the Adriatic highway. Double-decker buses, vehicles with trailers and motorcycles were barred between Bakar and Senj, and on several connections around Križišće and Kraljevica. Roads were locally wet in Slavonia and central and northwestern Croatia, with heavier traffic on urban roads, bypasses and selected highway sections.
