Šiauliai County Sees String of Assaults; Most Suspects Intoxicated

Šiauliai County Police documented a series of violent incidents occurring on August 8, with a common factor being the intoxication of the perpetrators. The reports detail multiple assaults, primarily involving men attacking women, though two incidents involved male victims.

In one incident at 6:00 AM on S. Nėries Street in Šiauliai, a 38-year-old intoxicated man assaulted a 37-year-old intoxicated woman. Later that afternoon, at 3:30 PM on Rokiškio Street, another intoxicated man, aged 43, assaulted a 38-year-old intoxicated woman in their home. A similar domestic assault occurred at 5:20 PM on Tilžės Street, where a 50-year-old man assaulted a 35-year-old intoxicated woman.

Further incidents included an assault at approximately 7:30 PM on Rasos Street, involving a 39-year-old intoxicated man and a 42-year-old intoxicated woman. In Raseiniai district, at 9:50 PM, a 47-year-old intoxicated man assaulted a 46-year-old intoxicated woman. The victims in these cases received medical attention and were treated as outpatients.

The violence extended into the late evening and into the following day. Shortly before midnight, a 31-year-old intoxicated man assaulted another man in Linkaičiai village, Radviliškis district. The victim declined medical assistance. Another incident occurred just before midnight in Šiauliai on Gardino Street, where a 47-year-old intoxicated man assaulted a 79-year-old man, who was treated as an outpatient.

Preliminary investigations have been launched for all reported cases under Article 140 of the Lithuanian Criminal Code, which pertains to causing physical pain or minor bodily harm. All identified suspects have been detained.
