Silverstone circuit to host World Endurance Championship from 2027

The iconic Silverstone circuit in the United Kingdom is set to rejoin the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) calendar in 2027, marking a significant return for the historic venue. The International Automobile Federation (FIA) announced its 2027 WEC schedule, which will feature nine races, including the highly anticipated return of the 6 Hours of Silverstone.

FIA President Mohammed ben Sulayem expressed enthusiasm for Silverstone's comeback, stating that its return is an important milestone for the championship. He emphasized the circuit's rich legacy in endurance racing and how its inclusion reflects the WEC's continuous growth and the sport's increasing global appeal.

The return of the 6 Hours of Silverstone next season marks an important milestone for the championship. Silverstone is a venue with a rich legacy in endurance racing, and its return reflects both the continuous growth of the FIA World Endurance Championship and the growing global appeal of our sport.

Frédéric Lequien, CEO of the WEC, echoed this sentiment, noting that it is the opportune moment to expand the calendar. He highlighted Silverstone's history of delivering exciting races and attracting large crowds, promising a tremendous challenge for competitors and a perfect complement to the existing venues.

The 2027 season will kick off with a prologue in Lusail, Qatar, on March 21-22, followed by the 1812 km race in Qatar on March 27. The championship will then move to Europe for six-hour races at Imola, Italy (April 11), Silverstone, UK (April 25), and Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium (May 15), before the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans in France on June 12-13. The season will conclude with races in Sao Paulo, Brazil (July 11), Austin, USA (September 12), Fuji, Japan (September 26), and Bahrain (November 6).
