Simeulue Regency, Aceh – The Simeulue Regency government has successfully generated Rp2.6 billion in regional revenue over a decade through a strategic rental agreement for its cold storage warehouse with PT Usaha Mina Merauke. This initiative underscores the regency's commitment to enhancing its financial independence and bolstering its position as a key player in the blue economy.

Regent Muhammad Nasrun Mikaris highlighted that this rental strategy is a cornerstone of the region's development vision, aiming to transform Simeulue into a prominent blue economy center. The cold storage facility, strategically located in Lugu Village, Simeulue Timur District, is designed to optimize the storage and processing of fishery products, thereby streamlining the distribution chain and adding significant value for local fishermen.

This cold storage facility is designed to support the integrated storage and processing of fishery products.

This forward-thinking approach not only secures a substantial revenue stream for the regency but also promises to uplift the livelihoods of its fishing communities. The ten-year lease, with a yearly rent of Rp260 million, is subject to review every five years, ensuring its continued relevance and benefit to the region. The successful implementation of this project reflects Simeulue's proactive stance in leveraging its resources for sustainable economic growth.
